New in ZIMS: On the go workflows – Using ZIMS during your daily routines has never been easier

We’re very excited to announce the release of the brand new mobile data entry workflow, great for using while on the go in the Species360 Zoological Information Management System (ZIMS)! Designed with mobility in mind, this new feature, called Data Entry, allows animal care and veterinary staff to enter data directly into ZIMS from their mobile devices while going about their daily routines.

This new functionality adds flexibility and integrates seamlessly into the daily routines of staff, eliminating the need for interim recording methods such as paper or electronic notes.

The first phase of the Data Entry release includes the ability to:

• Enter notes for single and batch animals
• Record weights for single animals
• Enter census records for groups

Upcoming releases of Data Entry will include the ability to record information on identifiers.

With this brand-new mobile friendly functionality, Species360 significantly enhances accessibility in ZIMS. This much requested feature by our community has been a long time in the making so we are thrilled to bring this into our users’ hands. Species360 remains deeply committed to supporting the daily needs of ZIMS users. By streamlining workflows through mobile access, organizations can now more easily maintain accurate real-time records that support the highest standards of care.

Users will be able to navigate to the new Data Entry workflow, via a launch button when accessing ZIMS from a mobile device.  There will also be a new navigation menu that allows users to navigate through our new features including Daily Activity, Data Entry and Taxon Profiles. Additionally, the feature is available through the start menu as well.

The new mobile feature is available in English, French, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish.
