Catch up on the Second Annual Species360 Conservation Science Alliance Research Symposium

A big thank you to everyone who attended the recent Species360 Conservation Science Alliance Research Symposium, held on 16 July! It was truly inspiring to see so many dedicated individuals come together to share insights and foster collaboration in the realm of conservation and animal care science.

We received just under 600 registrations representing 63 countries!

For those who were unable to join us, or if you wish to revisit any of the presentations, a recording of the symposium is now available. We encourage you to watch it at your convenience to catch up on the discussions. The link to the video is below.

The symposium covered a diverse range of topics, highlighting the innovative ways ZIMS data is being utilized to advance our understanding and efforts in animal care and conservation.

Key themes included:

  • Population management: Discussions on leveraging ZIMS data for effective population sustainability and genetic diversity.
  • Animal welfare and health research: Presentations showcasing how ZIMS records contribute to improving animal well-being and identifying health trends.
  • Conservation impact: Examples of how research powered by ZIMS data informs conservation breeding programs and reintroduction efforts.

We hope the symposium provided valuable information and sparked new ideas for your own research endeavors.

Accessing ZIMS data for your research

If you are interested in leveraging the vast and unique dataset within ZIMS, there are two options available:

Research Request Process: Our formal process allows researchers to submit proposals for specific data needs. This ensures ethical use and proper data governance. You can find more information and submit your request on our website, here.

Insights subscription: For organizations and individuals seeking more direct and continuous access to aggregated ZIMS data for research and analysis purposes, the Species360 Insights subscription provides access to our global aggregated and anonymized data, covering veterinary and global demographic data.
