New in ZIMS for Husbandry and Aquatics: Making it easier to record and share information about enclosures and life support systems

Working in collaboration with our members, Species360 continues to simplify and improve the way that aquarium and zoo professionals use the Zoological Information Management System (ZIMS) to share vital information about the animals and enclosures in their care. These updates reflect our commitment to making ZIMS more intuitive and efficient—whether you’re monitoring aquatic systems, managing habitats, or supporting daily husbandry routines.

Species360 member aquariums use ZIMS to manage aquatic enclosures, from water quality to medical care.

Species360 continues to make it faster and easier for those working in aquariums and zoos to record and share essential information about the animals and enclosures in their care.  These updates reflect our commitment to making the Zoological Information Management System (ZIMS) more intuitive and efficient—whether you’re monitoring aquatic systems, managing habitats, or supporting daily husbandry routines.

By streamlining data entry and improving how information is shared across teams, ZIMS helps ensure that vital information is accessible and actionable, supporting better animal care and operational decisions. Here is a look at some of the most recent improvements for those managing enclosures and life support systems.

Managing single or multiple enclosures and their occupants

To make it faster and easier for teams to share information for one or more enclosures, Species360 has added Enclosure Notes to the On-the-go mobile data entry experience. In a design that reflects input from our members, users can select a single enclosure or multiple enclosures (including lists) and record a note that applies to all. These notes can also be applied to the enclosure occupants. More record types are being developed for mobile entry, watch for updates!

The QR code feature is compatible with the mobile data entry. Generate a QR code for an enclosure, and then just scan it for easy access to input relevant data.

Tracking changes to Life Support Systems and Components

The Daily Activity dashboard now includes some data for Life Support Systems and Components. Maintenance, water changes and notes are currently available with more to come! This simplifies and speeds access for viewing new information.

If you work with enclosures, life support systems or components, you may have already spotted these new capabilities. If not, check them out – they are now available in ZIMS.

Also New! Provisional data approval is getting easier.
