We’re pleased to introduce Current Holdings, the latest addition to Taxon Profiles in the Species360 Zoological Information Management System (ZIMS).
Part of the ongoing modernization work in ZIMS, the new report replaces the legacy Species Holdings report. It provides a clearer picture of where a species is held around the world, how its global population is made up, and which animals may be available.
As one of the most highly used global resources in ZIMS, the legacy Species Holding report has been reimagined, based on member feedback, to show more animal-level data in an intuitive and modern dashboard.
“I’m excited about this latest release to Taxon Profiles in ZIMS, as it is part of our broader vision of creating a single dashboard to view all aggregated global data for a taxon, instead of running separate reports to piece together species information.”
Katelyn Mucha, Species360 Senior Product Owner, ZIMS for Studbooks.
Current Holdings keeps the features you rely on from the old Species Holdings report, including total population size, number of holders, institutions that hold the species, countries, and sex breakdown for individuals and groups.
And it also includes the following new features:
The new Current Holdings report can be found in Taxon Profiles in ZIMS. Taxon Profiles provides a comprehensive dashboard to view all global data for species in one place, helping users make informed decisions for daily animal care, long-term collection planning, and collaborative breeding programs.
Current Holdings joins the other information in Taxon Profiles, such as International Union for the conservation of Nature (IUCN) and Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) listings, studbooks, and the Reproduction and Weights reports.
The Species360 science team is currently finalizing the new Survival reports, which will be coming soon to Taxon Profiles.
