There is a new ZIMS for Medical training course designed for staff responsible for managing medical records — but who are not veterinary staff. The course equips non-veterinary users to record data in ZIMS for Medical, search for medical data and compile reports, and access global medical resources. In short, it provides the essential skills needed to accurately enter and manage medical data within ZIMS.
The course consists of multiple mini-courses, each focusing on a key aspect of Medical ZIMS:
Getting Started – Learn to navigate ZIMS for Medical, set up medical preferences, manage medical roles, and share medical records.
Medical Records – Understand how to add various medical records, including clinical notes, samples, tests & results, and more.
Searches and Reports – Learn to search for medical data and compile reports for informed decision-making.
Medical Resources – Learn to access global medical resources such as Anesthesia Summaries, Drug Usage Extracts, Morbidity and Mortality Analysis, and Expected Test Results.
What to know about the new ZIMS for Medical courses for non-veterinary staff
This series of courses empowers non-veterinary users to make use of ZIMS for Medical – and to do so easily and effectively. For zoos that do not have full-time, on-site veterinarians, other non-veterinary staff must often enter medical records. This course is a great starting point covering the essentials of what records can be recorded in ZIMS for Medical, and how to efficiently and correctly record some of this data.
The course can be completed by anyone, and does not require you to use ZIMS to do so. All of the interactive exercises are done through a host website, not in live ZIMS.
The course is accessed by an enrollment key which is accessible from the ZIMS help menu.
The course is self-paced and does not need to be completed in one sitting.
Users will get a certificate of completion upon finishing. There are no exams.
