Species360 Team: Katie Curran Joins Species360 as Aquatics Product Specialist

We are pleased to announce that Katie Curran, former Registrar at The Florida Aquarium, has joined Species360 as Aquatic Product Specialist. Katie has been a part-time, consulting member of the Species360 product management team since early October. In this role, she has helped to develop enhancements to the Zoological Information Management System (ZIMS) that directly support collection and enclosure management for aquariums.

Photo Ark: Joel Sartore images featured in ZIMS

There is a new look on the ZIMS login and desktop screens, featuring images by famed wildlife photographer Joel Sartore. As founder of the Photo Ark, a 25-year effort by National Geographic to photograph every species in human care around the globe, Joel is an increasingly more familiar face among conservationists and educators. He often visits zoos and aquariums as he photographs individual animals representing their species.

New in ZIMS for Medical: Upload test lab results directly to the animal’s record, saving manual data entry

Zoo, aquarium, wildlife veterinarians use the Zoological Information Management System (ZIMS) to record and share information regarding animals in their care. Now, when these veterinary teams send blood samples to IDEXX, they can view and upload the report directly in ZIMS for Medical. Called ZIMS Test Result Upload, the new feature reduces manual data entry for veterinary staff and improves the accuracy and volume of data used to calculate ZIMS Expected Test Results used by veterinarians to diagnose illness.
