We’re thrilled to announce new updates in ZIMS for Husbandry and Aquatics, featuring a range of enhancements and new functionalities that will make your data management and analysis even more efficient and user-friendly.

Enhancements to the Animal Graphing Tool

We have added new capabilities to the Animal Graphing Tool, giving users more information in an easy-to-access format and providing users with more options for mapping out the data they want to see in the tool.

You can now view notes when hovering over a Care and Welfare data point, allowing you to quickly see more information to help make data-driven decisions.

Users can select individual Care and Welfare indicators to graph, providing more flexibility to tailor the information to their needs.

Additionally, you can now also run the Animal Graphing Tool by Care and Welfare template. Choosing a Care and Welfare template will automatically populate the graph filters with the animals and care and welfare indicators within the template. You can then add or remove any of the criteria as usual. This new feature allows you to quickly and easily graph your care and welfare data for multiple animals and compare them against other ZIMS data points.

Get more information from your reports

The excel export from the Animal Graphing Tool will now display care and welfare notes alongside the name of the care and welfare indicator, providing a comprehensive view of your data. It will also include any Identifiers you selected for the graph.

Changes to Care and Welfare

Animal Alerts and Out of Range Indicator Search

The Animal Alert search has been renamed Animal Alerts and Out of Range Indicator Search. Users can now use the search function to search by animal, current and historical enclosures and date ranges. This gives users a quick and easy way to find animals in an enclosure that may need further welfare assessments.

Care and Welfare Templates

Users can navigate directly from an animals record to the templates for that animal or search for specific animals, which will show all the templates on which the particular animal appears, allowing users to quickly enter data into the templates.

When adding weights to a Care and Welfare template, clicking the note/details button will open a pop-up with more weight functionality, mirroring that of a normal weight entry. This time-saving enhancement allows you to add more details, such as estimates, equipment used, and exclude from norms.

Provisional

Provisional users can now edit provisionally entered batch notes before approval. You can edit the entire batch or split a single note from the batch for editing. Once approved, the batch notes will follow the standard provisional procedure.

Enclosure Moves

Enclosure moves entered as a batch can now be edited as a batch. You can edit the entire batch or split an enclosure move for selective editing.

We have added a new column titled ‘Move in Reason,’ providing more information at a glance.

We’ve added more options to editing batches in enclosure moves, as well as new columns providing more information at a glance.

We hope you find these enhancements and updates to ZIMS for Husbandry and Aquatics beneficial. For more information and links to further information, please consult the Release Notes in ZIMS.
