Species360 Welcomes Two New Team Members

Species360 is pleased to have welcomed two new team members to its international team last month. Sarah Lavin joins as the new Species360 Member Training Specialist, and Curtis Campbell joins the Hortis team as a Software Engineer.
Sarah was drawn to Species360 due to her first-hand experience using and seeing the benefits of ZIMS and the ethos that this immense amount of wildlife data can be utilized to better inform husbandry practices and conservation efforts. As a Member Training Specialist, she will create and deliver training content for ZIMS users.
“I’m excited to share knowledge and encourage others to see the benefits of collecting data not only for their zoos but also for the larger research and conservation efforts. ZIMS has an immense impact on what we know about species, especially when people know how to use it to its full capability, and that starts with effective training,” says Sarah Lavin.
Sarah brings with her a rich zoo experience, having previously worked at Wild Planet Trust in the UK as a zookeeper and registrar managing the zoo’s animal records. In her time at the Trust, she trained staff across three institutions: Paignton Zoo, Living Coasts, and Newquay Zoo, to use ZIMS.
Sarah is based in Devon, UK, and in her free time loves partaking in activities around the sea, such as paddleboarding, surfing, and freediving.
Curtis Campbell recently joined the Hortis team and is responsible for building new features and enhancing the plant record-keeping platform’s user interface (UI) and user experience (UX). He is particularly interested in design, data visualization, and automation.
“Joining the Species360 Hortis team and working alongside people who share the same interests and passions as I do has been an exciting opportunity. Contributing to the organization’s mission and seeing the impact both the Hortis and ZIMS platforms have in their respective sectors makes my role here incredibly rewarding,” says Curtis Campbell.
Curtis is based in Leeds in the north of England, and outside of work, he loves experiencing new foods, reading, and traveling, and has recently taken up scuba diving.
Welcome to the team, Sarah and Curtis!
