Growth: Species360 community expands to 101 countries

There is still much to learn from, and about, the Etruscan shrew that is endemic to the Maltese islands. About as big as a person’s thumb, the species is the world’s smallest known mammal by mass. Read more about the species unique shifts to survive in winter, in TheScientist.

We are pleased to welcome the Montekristo Animal Park, the first institution to join Species360 from Malta. With this addition, nearly 1,300 institutions in 101 countries now participate in global non-profit Species360.

The mission of Species360 is to facilitate international collaboration in the collection and sharing of knowledge on animals and their environments for aquariums, zoos, and related conservation organizations.

Currently under construction, the Park plans to use Species360 ZIMS (Zoological Information Management System) as part of new programs designed to ensure the welfare of animals.
