Congratulations to Erika Fronk on her 10th anniversary with Species360!

As a Member Support Advocate, Erika is the go-to contact at Species360 for more than 270 association and institutional members, including regional associations World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA), European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA), Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), Zoo and Aquarium Association – Australasia (ZAA), and more. In 2021, Erika handled nearly 1,800 questions and help requests from our members.

Erika also supports the global community of studbook keepers, including providing one-to-one support for teams around the world as over 1,400 studbooks were migrated to the Zoological Information Management System, ZIMS for Studbooks.” While the entire Species360 Member Support team helped individual studbook keepers with their migration questions, Erika also worked with the regional associations, Member Support and Studbooks teams to coordinate the studbook migration schedule and make sure everyone’s transition to the new software went smoothly.

Beginning in 2019, Erika became the point person for testing studbooks for any errors that would cause issues during migration and cleaned up data when needed. In all, she successfully tested over 850 studbooks. In 2020, Erika worked with the Studbooks team to survey members regarding interest in creating institutional studbooks. So far 56 new studbooks have been created in ZIMS for Studbooks, establishing more automated, secure, and future-proof resources to ensure the welfare of animal populations.

In the midst of her work, Erika also leads our “Green Team” which focuses on reducing waste, educating staff, and driving initiatives – one of which led to the Green Office Certification of our offices and serving as a model within the larger Minneapolis business community. Erika also coordinated local biweekly fundraisers for our community in response to the George Floyd murder.

Erika, we’re so glad you’re part of the team.  Happy, happy anniversary!!
