Ecuador Amphibian Research and Conservation Center joins Species360

The Jambatu (Antelopus ignescens) is one of the most representative species in the central Sierra. According to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), it among the animals most at risk of extinction.

We are pleased to welcome our newest member, Centro Jambatu de Investigacion y Conservation de Anfibios (Center Jambatu for Amphibians Research and Conservation) in Ecuador.

This non-profit breeding center was founded in 2011 and works with 1,100 specimens to help save Ecuadorian amphibian species from extinction.  Ecuador ranks third in the world for amphibian diversity — and over 44 percent of these species are found nowhere else on Earth!
